Scott Jackson January 2025 Update

I hope that you had a restful and peaceful holiday season.  When we look back, it's astonishing to think of how quickly the years are passing.  We are definitely living in very interesting and I would say prophetic times, and through the years, we have seen many negative things happen in the world, and indeed in our own countries.  But we have also seen the Lord at work in many wondrous ways as well.  And it's important for us to hold both things in tension.   I am reminded in this moment of the Lord Jesus' parable of the wheat and the weeds and how both will grow up alongside each other.  Until the end! It's important for us to not sugar coat the negative, whilst also giving thanks for the positive.  To pray for people to be awakened to the truth of the Gospel.

So whatever 2025 holds, and only the Lord knows it all, may we go through it with faith, hope and love.

Young Life....

During the holidays, WyldLife also took a break.  However before that happened, we had a fun-filled time having a Christmas movie evening for the kids (watching Home Alone), having our team Christmas lunch, and hosting our annual 'Ms Christmas Tree' Club.  We had over 60 kids in attendance at this our final club, and a lot of fun and games were had, with the kids (and also multiple parents who were in attendance) hearing the Gospel message shared.

January has seen the restart of ministry, with the team having a day of planning for the next 6 months, both with the themes and talk focusses, from the person of Christ to sin to the cross and resurrection.  Our first club of the year had a 'Movie Character' theme, and as you can see from the picture below, I was Homer Simpson (much face paint was used for this haha).  The Team Leader, Blagica, was our speaker and she shared about the person of Christ.  She used the following short movie, which she is the actress in, to help make the point in her talk about the love of Jesus.

This club was one of the few that we have hosted so far since the middle of last year, that we have tried to operate as 'inclusive'.  This is where we have invited several kids from the Capernaum (special needs) branch to join in with the WyldLife club.  On this occasion we had four kids who are blind join us.  It was a joy to see them engaging and having fun, and we are trying, step by step to learn what the best way is to include them in these clubs.  We realise that different kids have different challenges, and so it may not always be best for them to join, which is why we will continue to have Capernaum clubs for them to be able to fully engage.

Bible Studies...

The Bible Studies have been continuing, albeit taking a brief pause over the holidays and during the month of February, whilst the Moore family are in the UK, I'll be hosting a couple of the Wednesday night studies, with another family hosting the other two.  It is wonderful to see people growing in how they engage with the Scriptures, and that you can see are being impacted by them.

ICEJ Macedonia and Albanian ministry...

Since my last update, upon the invitation by the President of ICEJ MK (International Christian Embassy of Jerusalem (Macedonia branch)), I have joined the board of the local branch here, with the aim of trying to support, both in prayer, and in some practical ways this ministry.  I have had a love for the Jewish people on my heart for many years and see it as a wonderful privilege to be able to partner with the Lord, in even the smallest of ways, to see the Kingdom of God come more and more amongst His firstborn from among the nations.  The ministry is currently working on having a new website created.

At the same time, it is amazing to see the small stirrings of awakening happening amongst the Albanian and Muslim people here in Macedonia.  Last year, an Albanian here in Skopje who attends Bible studies said that she had received a picture of a dark tower that was within and overlooking the city, break and come crashing to the ground.  She sensed that this represented demonic strongholds that were keeping the people in bondage and deception being broken.  What a picture, and certainly one that we say Amen to and press into the Lord for.

Thanksgiving:

For the ways in which the Lord has worked through the Young Life ministry through 2024, and the kids who have been touched by the Gospel, with many now also a part of Bible Studies.  And the great start to 2025 also.
For the time of rest over the holidays.
For the Bible Studies and how people are growing in their faith.

Prayer Requests:

For even more kids to be touched by the Gospel this year, and for more team members within Young Life so that the ministry can be expanded even more.
For an awakening within Novo Lisiche to the Gospel.  That more people would have a growing hunger to know the Lord, that they are able to connect in with the Bible Studies, either the ones we are hosting, or from other churches, or even new ones started.
For the increasing awakening of the Albanian people here in Macedonia to the Gospel.  That they would find themselves introduced to Jesus, and would recognise Him as the Way, the Truth and the Life.
For my visa renewal.  Hard to believe that it's come around so quickly, but here we are again.  Within the next few weeks, the application will be going in, and God-willing, it will not take too long for it to be processed.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read my latest newsletter.  I greatly appreciate your partnership in the Gospel, and I pray that you are and will see the hands and goodness of the Lord at work in all areas of your life, for His glory.

Much love and every blessing in the Lord Jesus,

Scott

Planning your Visit

A Warm Hello

The following information is specifically for those planning a visit, so that you know, beforehand, what to expect on a Sunday.

Where and When

We meet at Kent Street Community Church, Latchford, Warrington, WA4 1BT, for our Sunday Services, starting at 10:30am and 6pm. For your first visit, we recommend arriving 10-15 minutes early to ensure you get a parking space and find somewhere to sit before the service begins. When you arrive, you should be greeted by one of our Door Stewards who can assist with any queries and show you where to sit.

Parking: This is in the streets adjacent to the church building.  We ask people to be considerate of our neighbours and not obstruct access to property.  We request that visitors do not park in the road outside the main entrance.

Accessibility: There is wheelchair access, and a sound loop for anyone who needs it. There is a  disabled toilet (with baby changer) in the reception area.

Our Service

The service begins at 10:30am and 6pm with a warm welcome from one of our team members. Then follows a time of sung worship, We typically have 3-4 songs lasting approximately 20 - 30 minutes. Sometimes a person might pray out loud or read a small passage from the bible. Sometimes people share things that they believe God is saying to the whole church family. This might seem strange the first time you hear it but it’s all part of our connecting with God. We then share news and notices, usually about what’s going on in the life of the church. One of the church members or an invited speaker will then give a sermon that is bible based and that we can apply to our everyday life. We then finish with a final worship song. Sometimes there is an opportunity to receive prayer at the end of the service. The service lasts approximately 1hour and 15 minutes in the morning and 1 hour 30 minutes in the evening.

We serve tea, coffee and biscuits after our evening service. It is a great way to meet people. All refreshments are free.

What about my kids?

During the morning service several of our volunteers run the Kids Church.

The children meet at 10.30am in the small hall.  On occasions they will come into the service to participate for a short time, or listen to a presentation specifically for them.

The Kids Church activities vary depending on the age but usually there is a friendly welcome, bible stories, testimonies, praying, music, craft, drama, fun games and free play. Please pick your children up as soon as the service finishes.
